My name is Heather and I’ve been with Dog’s Day Inn since the summer of 2013. I come from a long line of dog lovers, trainers, breeders, and groomers. My mom jokes that I was born in a whelping box. I adore dogs and cats. I own and American Eskimo named Einstein, a Toy Poodle named Cinnamon, and two cats: Scarlett and Six. My life and love revolves around all of my four legged friends at home and here at Dog’s Day Inn. Cat Boarding in Richmond, VA

Boarding services are offered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! We provide a fun, safe, and loving atmosphere for your special feline friend..

For our customers with a flair for felines, our kitty boarders have a room all to themselves, away from the dogs. Each cat receives his very own three-story kitty condo, with a bottom level for the litter box, a middle level for food and water, and a top level where they can perch peacefully.

The cats are individually let out of their condos and into the “cattery” once a day for some one-on-one playtime with our staff. To stay with us, however, we do require your kitty to be fully immunized against rabies, feline leukemia, and distemper.

Grooming services are offered Monday through Saturday.

We offer complete and gentle grooming services Monday through Saturday. This includes stylish clips/trims with a soothing bath using a variety of all natural products, such as flea treatments, whiteners, and conditioning oatmeal. Get a pedicure (nail trim) and for fun or fashion have your dog’s nails painted or hair dyed.

We also offer the option of having your pet bathed and groomed before being picked up from boarding with us. Bathing is done 7 days a week, but only for the boarders on Sunday!

We have gentle and experienced groomers for all breeds, large and small. Grooming services are also offered for cats, Meow! As a special service we also offer painless and permanent I.D. tattooing.

Regular grooming is not just a luxury – it’s absolutely essential for your pet’s health and well being. We’ve all mastered gentle, confident animal care and handling, as well as grooming skills that produce consistently beautiful results. In short, we make your pet look and feel great! You’ll see that we excel at providing a soothing, relaxing, therapeutic experience designed to minimize stress.

We are pleased to pamper your pet lovingly and with unmatched expertise.

Our Kennels

Our kennels are equipped with large indoor/outdoor runs that are heated and/or cooled. We even leave a radio on 24 hours to comfort the dogs. Each kennel has an orthopedic kennel deck at all times, and at night we have tuck-ins with blankets and cookies for everyone at no additional charge.

Each and every dog will get at least two play times a day, either alone or with “friends” or family. We feed Native Level 1 Lamb and Rice foods at no extra charge, but if your pet has a special diet or medication we can administer it.

Before boarding your pet, we must see proof of shots. For dogs, we require a current rabies, bordetella (kennel cough), and yearly booster (DHLPP).

Your dog may enjoy toys and small blankets from home, but we just can’t be responsible for lost or damaged ones!!

We proudly welcome all breeds. No Breed Restrictions!

I’m Anita, a shift manager at Dog’s Day Inn. I have been here for three years, loving and caring for every pet that walks in our door. I have four dogs of my own, a Belgian Malinois, Ben SchH III, and three Giant Schnauzers, Akira SchH III, FH1, Chipsy, and Ritzi. I have been working with dogs since they were taller than me; I could never see myself doing anything else. Every pet that walks in our door is treated like our own. We cater to their every need and desire, not to mention spoiling them rotten.

Meet Beth Shriver, Dog's Day Inn Office Manager

Hi, I’m the office manager at Dog’s Day Inn. I live with my husband, Mike, our two sons, and our four dogs. We have two westies, Sylvia and Bee, a yorkie, Sophie, and a miniature dachshund, Grace. I compete with my dogs in earth dog, nosework and agility. Grace and Bee both have their Junior Earthdog titles, and are working on their Senior Earthdog titles.

I have just started to compete in agility with Bee. I have been at Dog’s Day Inn from the very beginning. I even married into the family. If that’s not commitment, I don’t know what is.

Meet Kristen Shriver, Dog's Day Inn Shift Manager

kristen
My name is Kristen and I’m a very familiar face around Dog’s Day Inn. I have two pit bulls named Angel and Frank. I also have a French Bulldog named Mimi. You will find her searching Dog’s Day Inn for spare kibbles.

I’m Paige’s daughter so I’ve been working with the pups since I was old enough to spray a hose. I started caring for my own dogs as a chore when I was a child. Now, I care for my own and many more! Dog’s Day Inn is a family business so each dog that comes through our front door is a new family member. I love my job because there’s nothing better or easier than sharing my love with animals.

Meet Paige Shriver, Dog's Day Inn Owner

I’ve been the proud owner of Dog’s Day Inn since February of 2000. When I was a little girl, if anyone asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I answered, “work with animals!” I got my first American Bulldog, Bailey, in 1996, ever since then, I’ve been hooked! I began traveling the country showing my Bulldogs in the conformation ring, earning championship points on Bailey and many of her progeny. When I stumbled upon the “For Sale” listing for Dog’s Day Inn, it was a small, 17 kennel facility offering very limited services. I saw the potential, and began transforming that dream into reality. Dog’s Day Inn is now one of the most highly rated boarding and grooming facilities in Richmond.

I live on 4.5 acres with my American Bulldogs: Chevez, SchH III, Oz, SchH I, PSAPDC, Razor (Belgian Malinois), and Zot (Belgian Malinois Mix). We are active members of Cobra Kai K-9, and the American Working Dog Federation. I also serve on the Board of Directors for Federation American Bulldog. “It’s all about the dogs!!!”
